Maecenas was a political and arts manager, but eventually took up residence in Greece to allow him to pursue his gay lifestye, which clashed with the later "family values" program of Augustus and Livia.
<---Augustus had hoped that Agrippa would succeed him as "Princeps", but Augustus outlived Agrippa as well as Agrippa's two sons, Augustus's grandsons. Tiberius, Livia's pre-Augustus son, ended up inheriting.

Maecenas was actually a great patron of the arts, and modern day Maecenas Societies, groups that patronize (sponsor, fund) artistic activities. (Maecenas Societies are not typically gay).

<---The Curia Julia was completed by Octavian to replace an earlier Senate chamber that was burned down during a riot. it was commissioned by Juliua Caesar and completed by Octavian in 44 BC -- named "Julia" because both Julius Caesar and Octavian were members of the Julian (Iulian) gens.
The reason Octavian had to take over the project was, of course, because Julius Caesar had been assassinated in Pompey's curia, where the Senate was temporarily meeting.

<---The "Blue Cover" edition looks the same on the outside, just printed in blue ink. The DVD inside is very different. Penthouse Magazine bought the movie rights when Hallmark refused to Penthouse producers added an hour of new scenes to increase the movie's gore and pornography levels. That version also is available on the Internet. The version we use is without the Penthouse additions but still X rated.

Caligula's reputation is controversial.
Many things said about his behavior reflect thing salso said about previous "bad" rulers and were said by historians in the pay of his political enemies.
Some modern day medical analysts also think that he may have had epileptic seizures that skewed his personality (also said about Nero and Julius Caesar).
